AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Benchmarks Leaked

It's the perfect contender to NVIDIA's RTX 3080 Flagship Gaming GPU

Last Updated on

It’s only been a week since AMD announced their Radeon RX 6000 series GPU lineup: the 6800, 6800 XT, and 6900 XT. We’re expecting a lot from these graphics cards, which are set to rival NVIDIA’s recently launched GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs

Earlier this week, some new information regarding the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT RDNA 2 was spotted after it was leaked by a user on Chinese Baidu forums. The leaked 3DMark Time Spy Extreme Benchmark performance suggests that the Radeon RX 6800 XT is going to be the perfect rival for NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card

What We Found Out

According to WCCFTech, “the user who had got early access to the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT reveals that the graphics card scores around 8500 points in the 3DMark Time Spy Extreme benchmark.” Comparing it to the RTX 3080 graphics card, which scores around 8900-9000 points in the same benchmark, it looks like the RX 6800 XT will be pretty much on par with NVIDIA’s ”flagship gaming GPU” – and at $50 less, too (the RTX 3080 is being sold at $699 while the RX 6800 XT will retail at $649).

The leak also told us that the RX 6800 XT – and the other RX 6000 series cards – will have “very stable drivers at launch.” They also said that the triple-fan cooling solution is a little noisy, but offers excellent temperatures. Finally, the leaker said that we should expect the AMD 6000 series graphics cards to trump NVIDIA’s 30-series cards in the user experience department.

What We Already Knew

In terms of specs, the RX 6800 XT will have 72 Compute Units, a 2015MHz game clock, and a 2250MHz boost clock. It will also have a 16GB GDDR6 memory capacity and a total board power of 250W.

Of course, the RX 6800 XT will feature a 128MB Infinity Cache. The Infinity Cache – a term trademarked by AMD earlier this year – offers two times the bandwidth you’d traditionally expect. It does so by leveraging efficiencies and utilizing the Ryzen 5000 series Zen 3 cache to create a caching system that reduces latency, removes bottlenecks, and enables better power consumption. All of the AMD 6000 Series GPUs will feature AMD Smart Memory Access and Rage Mode, which lets users overclock their GPU in just one click.

The RX 6800 XT, along with the RX 6800, will be launching on November 18, retailing at $649 – a very respectable price especially compared with NVIDIA’s 30-series prices.
