Microsoft has a dedicated page to current errors in Windows 11 and while at the moment it looks a little barren, they’ve already picked up that the Vietnamese browser, Cốc Cốc, has begun breaking when installed Windows 11.
To counteract that, Microsoft has placed a halt on rolling out Windows 11 to the area in hopes that the main browser used by 25 million people in the country won’t suddenly work. Of course, you could always just circumvent this by manually installing Windows 11 via the ISO or USB, but Microsoft has an explicit warning to avoid doing this to prevent further issues.
“To safeguard your upgrade experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on these devices from installing or being offered Windows 11. If your organization is using Update Compliance, the safeguard ID is 35891494.”
Cốc Cốc boasts a built-in ad-block, video downloader, and personalized news feed. It’s based on Chromium and even features its own search engine. Originally called Cờ Rôm+ (Chrome Plus), the browser now boasts over 25 million users.
While maybe not convenient to Vietnamese users, Firefox, Chrome, and Edge are all working just fine, with Opera and Safari having no reports of errors either.
