Fortnite has undergone some recent changes that have elevated the max specs a little, but you can still have a good old Battle Royale on a medium-powered PC or even a laptop. Let’s have a check at what we will need to run it at base level and in all its glory.
Fortnite Minimum PC System Requirements
- Video Card: Nvidia GTX 960, AMD R9 280, or equivalent DX11 GPU or equivalent AMD GPU on Mac
- Video Memory: 2 GB VRAM or higher
- Processor: Core i5-7300U 3.5 GHz
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit or Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6
Fortnite Recommended PC System Requirements
- Video Card: Nvidia GTX 1080, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, or equivalent GPU
- Video Memory: 4 GB VRAM or higher
- Processor: Intel Core i7-8700, AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, or equivalent
- Memory: 16 GB RAM or higher
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Fortnite Minimum Laptop Requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i3 G Series | AMD Ryzen Mobile 3 APU
- RAM: 4GB RAM
- HDD: 16GB Free Space
- GPU: Intel UHD onboard graphics | Radeon Vega 6 onboard graphics
- OS: Windows 7, 8, or Windows 10 64-bit
- DirectX: Version 11 or better
Fortnite Recommended Laptop Requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i5 U Series | AMD Ryzen Mobile 5
- RAM: 8GB RAM
- HDD: 16GB Free Space
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q / AMD Radeon 5600M
- OS: Windows 7, 8.1, or Windows 10 64-bit
- DirectX: Version 11 or better
Epic Quality Presets Specifications
- Video Card: Nvidia GTX 1080 or equivalent GPU
- Video Memory: 4 GB VRAM or higher
- Processor: Intel Core i7-8700, AMD Ryzen 7 3700x or equivalent
- Memory: 16 GB RAM or higher
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Mac computers must support Metal API. Check if your Mac supports Metal here.
Note: Fortnite no longer supports Nvidia cards on Mac.
If you just meet the minimum system requirements, Fortnite will run on your machine, but probably not on the highest settings. Reducing the graphics settings in Fortnite and disabling background apps will help.
