Snapchat Won’t Open

If the Snapchat app isn’t working, your first port of call is to find out if the app is only failing to open for you. If you don’t check this, you could waste time trying to solve your problem when it is in fact unsolvable because the entire app is down.

There are a number of different ways you can find out if the Snapchat app is down.

Another way you can find out the app is down is by checking on Twitter. Using Twitter you can see if anyone else is reporting any issues. You can also check or Tweet the Snapchat Support account to find out what’s going on.

If you’ve used the methods above and have discovered it’s only you having problems, the next thing you might want to try is closing the app and re-opening it. If the app still isn’t opening once you’ve restarted it, you should then try logging out of your account.

When you log back in, the app will re-sync all of your data and local snaps. This re-sync with the server might just fix the issues you’re having.

If that hasn’t worked, uninstalling the app completely before reinstalling it could be the next thing to try.

The reason your Snapchat might not be opening could be down to a poor or lost internet connection. A super-quick way to find out if your problems are related to the internet is to check another app.

If nothing else on your phone is working, your internet connection is most likely to be the problem.

You can try and solve this problem by switching from data to Wi-Fi, getting closer to the router, or turning the router off and on.

Almost every app downloads data and media onto your device. If the data downloaded is corrupt, problems like an app can arise. Clearing the app’s cache could solve the problem, and you won’t lose any photos or snaps in the process. 

To clear the app’s cache, head to Snapchat, tap on your avatar icon, click on settings in the top right corner, hit the clear cache button, and press continue. This will clear the app’s cache and hopefully get it working for you again.

If everything else seems to be fine, but the app still won’t open, you might want to check the app’s permissions. Permissions are required for an app to access certain functions on your phone.

If there are permissions missing, for example, camera or location permissions, the app might not work.

You can check permissions by again heading to your avatar profile and looking at the settings. Once you are in the settings, tab permissions, and press enable. You will need to give Snapchat permission to use anything it needs. This could solve your problem.
