Samsung has announced their Unpacked 2 event, streaming live on their YouTube channel on October 20th at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET. Rather than announcing new devices, it looks like we’ll be getting customizable options for existing Galaxy handsets.

Samsung Unpacked 2 – What To Expect

Here’s the thing, we’re not really sure. Considering Samsung is going head-to-head against their main competitors in the handheld market, it doesn’t look like any new products or Galaxy handsets will be announced. here’s a quote from the Samsung Newsroom announcement:

Our users are multifaceted and live life in so many colorful, interesting and unique ways. As such, the technology they use every day should reflect their individuality. Join Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 on October 20 to see how Samsung is opening up new experiences for self-expression through technology.

It looks like we’ll be seeing Samsung unveil customization options for their existing devices, which isn’t that much of a stretch considering their fashion statement design ideas with their foldable handsets. This very much represents Samsungs move into fashionable technology and bowing out of the processing power arms race that is the Android handset market.

Although we doubt Samsung would call an event that goes head to head with Apple and Google for phone cases, it’s going to be interesting if the announcements will be focused on software updates, physical add ons, or a bit of both. Keep an eye on our Android and News hubs for the latest.
