While the iPhone 14 pre-order phase isn’t here just yet, we have a good idea of when pre-orders may be open based on current scheduling and previous iPhone launches.
We know that if you want to pre-order an iPhone 14, you’ll need to wait until at least the Apple unveiling event in September.
That’s because Apple’s September events launch new iPhone models as well as new iOS software in all their glory. So it’s then we’ll know the exact details for pre-order and on-sale info.
iPhone 14 pre-order expected date
While we don’t yet know the date, we do have a window of expectation, as last year’s iPhone 13 event was on Tuesday, September 14th. Using the same timings we’d expect the following timescales for both Apple’s event and pre-order availbility:
- Apple September event, expected date: Tuesday, September 6th, 13th, or 20th.
Similarly, as last year pre-orders were open on Friday, September 20th, iPhone 14 pre-orders could also be on the Friday after the event. That would mean:
- iPhone 14 pre-order, expected date: Friday, September 9th, 16th, or 23rd.
Yes, unfortunately, you’ll need to wait until September to pre-order an iPhone 14. That is unless you have just over $10,000 to hand, because Custom iPhone company Caviar has its iPhone 14 pre-orders already open.
The incredibly pricey limited-run designs feature iPhone 14 models decorated in exclusive materials: 18k gold frames, diamonds, meteorite material from the Moon and Mars, and hand-wound mechanical watch movements.
We may just wait for the official pre-order date from Apple. And as soon as we have that and any network information we’ll tell you.
Previous iPhone release dates
Apple’s previous iPhone releases also show a pattern, which we can reference for suggesting an iPhone 14 pre-order and general release date.
Of the last seven iPhone releases, five have been in September. And of the last four, only one slipped to October; 2020’s iPhone 12 launch, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apple seems fairly happy with September by this point. So, although we may not know specific details just yet, mid to late-September is the time to expect the unveiling as well as access to iPhone 14 pre-orders.
