People Are Using iOS 15 Live Text To Copy Each Others Work

Live Text

Last Updated on

Live Text is certainly a step forward in the realm of accessibility and convenience, but with great power comes great responsibility. French TikTok user @Yannbernillie has demonstrated how easy it is to take a picture of a fellow student’s notes on a laptop and rip out the text:

The issue here is inclusivity. For example, some students have an issue writing by hand which is why they have laptops and tablets in the first place. Although it’s an advantage not allowing people to see what you’re writing, Live Text can still grab text from a note (providing it’s not a doctor or artist note that is).

Twitter user @juanbuis shared the TikTok video, which has caused quite a heated comments section:

From teachers being happy that students are coming up with inventive ways of note-taking in class, to Android fanboys gloating about having similar technology in Android handsets for the past three years with Google Lens, Live Text is certainly causing a stir on social media:

A student’s dream come true?

When looking at Live Text from a College/University student perspective, Live Text is great for note-taking and getting ahead of the curb in increasingly disengaging and interactionless lectures thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Do you think Live Text should be being used like this? Let us know in the comments.
