MSI Unveils Four AM5 Motherboards At Computex 2022

Last Updated on

At Computex 2022, MSI has announced four motherboards taking advantage of AMD’s freshly-announced AM5 socket and X670 chipset.

The MEG X670E GODLIKE, MEG X670E ACE, MPG X670E CARBON WIFI, and PRO X670-P WIFI slide into MSI’s existing premium MEG, mid-market gaming MPG, and productivity-focused PRO Series with full support for AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors, also penciled in for release in late 2022.

Despite differences between MSI’s new boards, especially in terms of a target audience, all tap into the X670 chipset’s most striking features, notably PCIe 5.0, support for ARGB Gen2 devices, and DDR5 memory. Here’s what MSI has shared so far about each of its new AM5 motherboards.

MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE and MEG X670E ACE

Though MSI hasn’t directly confirmed as much, MEG X670E GODLIKE emerges as MSI’s flagship enthusiast-grade, EATX form factor X670 entry, with an E slapped on denoting wider PCIe 5.0 slot and M.2 support.

It features a rear USB Type-C with support for DisplayPort 2.0 output, front USB 3.32 Gen 2×2 Type-C capable of 60 W power delivery, screw-less M.2 Shield Frozr M.2 shrouds, and an upgraded VRM design with 24+2 Power Phases and 105A Smart Power Stage.

Other interesting add-ons include rear I/O controls for RGB, safe boot, and fan behavior, along with a stacked fin array design heat sink, MOSFET baseplate, four onboard M.2 slots (one being M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot), and an M.2 xPander-Z Gen 5 DUAL add-on card for two extra PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slots.

From what we understand, the MEG X670E ACE matches many specifications of the GODLIKE variant. MSI stopped short of detailing exactly how the two boards differ, though the price is likely a factor per the company’s standard naming conventions.

MSI MPG X670E CARBON WIFI

The MPG X670E CARBON WIFI adopts a sharp carbon black color scheme and houses dual full-sized PCIe 5.0 x16 slots sided by four M.2 slots divided into two M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 and two PCIe 5.0 x4. Powering these is 20 (18+2) VRM pushing 90A power phases and an extended heatsink design. As the name implies, WIFI is also part of the deal here.

PRO X670-P WIFI

Lastly, MSI debuted the PRO X670-P WIFI, a decidedly more business-orientated X670 board aimed at the office and studio. The motherboard includes 16 (14+2) phase duet rail power delivery system, two 8-pin CPU power connectors, a single M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot, 2.5G LAN, and Wi-Fi 6E.

As is customary for a first announcement, MSI has not shared pricing details, so stay tuned for further information about these new MSI AM5 boards as fall creeps closer.
